Parallel Liberation Struggles: Lessons in Resistance
Minnesota Break the Bonds Campaign was one of several organizations* to plan and present a day-long conference called Parallel Liberation Struggles: Lessons in Resistance, October 23, 2017 at the University of Minnesota, Keller Hall.
The theme of the conference was based on Johan Galtung‘s work describing three types of violence that people under oppression face: Direct, Structural and Cultural.
The conference commemorated the 100-year anniversary of Palestinian resistance to the Israeli settler-colonial project, and explored the similarities in violence used against Palestinians, Native Americans and African Americans, and their methods of resistance.
